Synthetic Grass Maintenance Experts
Over two decades of specialisation leaves very little room for doubt. Sports Clean is the name councils, schools, sporting clubs, venues, and homes trust for synthetic surface maintenance.
Our Story
Our founder, Peter Luffman, started Sports Clean in 1999 to deliver expert professional synthetic grass maintenance to a market that was growing fast and underserved. That purpose is still the backbone of everything we do.
Today, we regularly maintain most large-format synthetic fields in NSW and ACT, complete approximately 2,000 jobs every year, and operate the largest dedicated synthetic surface maintenance fleet in Australia. We also employ trained staff directly and support remote communities in NSW.
The business has stayed family-owned throughout, and the focus that built it has never wavered.
Our Team
Kate Luffman, Managing Director
Kate Luffman, MBA, joined Sports Clean in 2014 and took the reins from her father, founder Peter Luffman, soon after. Under her leadership, Sports Clean has grown into the most trusted specialist synthetic surface maintenance provider in Australia.
Kate works closely with facility owners and is a recognised voice in the industry. Her advice is regularly sought by clients and industry peers.
She brings particular focus to the synthetic grass industry’s environmental responsibilities, including the responsible management of microplastics during field maintenance.

Our Equipment
Much of our specialised machinery is sourced from SMG, a worldleading German manufacturer of synthetic sports surface equipment. Their machines are built to meet the recommended maintenance standards of major international sporting bodies, including UEFA, FIFA, the IRB, and the ITP.
Our Initiatives
Sports Clean has strong ties to Far Western NSW and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by remote communities and in particular education in remote areas. This connection underpins our ongoing commitment to supporting remote education and community initiatives across the region.
We are also committed to reducing our environmental impact. Through our partnership with Greenfleet, we contribute to the planting of native trees across Australia to help offset carbon emissions from our vehicle fleet.
Our Standards
Every technician completes a comprehensive induction before attending any client site. All staff undergo police checks and hold current Working With Children checks in NSW and Working With Vulnerable People checks in the ACT.
Sports Clean also holds pre-accreditation and certification with Cm3 and BNG Conserve Contractor Management Systems.
